All of the schools we serve are Title 1 Schools, we provide a countywide model (North/Central and South Regions) in order to serve youth and their families living in impoverished neighborhoods, at no cost to them.
Title I is a federal education program that supports low income students throughout the nation. Funds are distributed to high poverty schools, as determined by the number of students who qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Title I is the largest federal program supporting elementary and secondary education. It is funded entirely by the federal government under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.
At-risk and vulnerable communities in poverty.
Students will carry out community service projects including park and beach clean ups that provide engaging and hands-on activities with special tools, kits, charts, and engaging discussions and games. They also compete in Science Fair Competitions, create Community Cookbooks, and participate in Community Gardens on School Sites. Students also work with Community Partners to organize Events with Local Parks.
At risk youth need help more than anyone.
The curriculum in most schools has fallen behind regarding the subject of environmental impact. Even more so, students in underprivileged schools rarely have the resources they need to learn about the principles of ecology; and their educators lack the funding to provide them.
Ninety percent of the students participating in our Programs are on free and reduced lunch and three of the four schools we serve are classified as Title I Schools.
Environmental conservation starts with knowledge about the way that humans impact their environment. The study of that relationship is called ecology. The future belongs to the children, and environmental education - ecology - will enable the students to create change throughout their lives, and to spread that knowledge to others.
Your generous gift will help us fund our mission to help those in need. Together, we can make a difference.
